The Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (GAND) is the professional body representing the professional, educational, public, and workplace interests of licensed/Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists in Ghana. The Academy seeks to advance nutritional knowledge and practice through research, training, and professional development opportunities to achieve optimal nutritional well-being of every Ghanaian. GAND had previously existed in the past as two independent associations; the Ghana Dietetic Association and the Ghana Nutrition Association. The associations merged into the Academy and was launched on July 2, 2019 by H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Akuffo Addo, the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana. GAND seeks to ensure equitable access to nutrition well-being through promotive, preventive, and curative actions that enable all Ghanaians to enjoy evidence-based nutrition services. Our approach has been to leverage the capacities of our members in all sectors in pursuant of our goal to ensuring equitable access to premium nutritional health care for all Ghanaians. Since nutrition plays a key role in advancing the health of our population, we do this through regular stakeholder engagements/collaborations, policy advocacy, research and development on the one hand, and through promoting professionalism and proficiency-enhancing capacity-building professional development activities. GAND is located at the Department of Nutrition & Food Science, University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana. Visit the GAND website for more information.
